Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT), founded in 1981, is a public university of China composed of three campuses and more than 20,000 full-time students. It is a Tier One in Fujian Province, one of the Top Ten Fastest Growing Universities in China, offering nearly 50 programs supported by a faculty of over 1000, including 100-odd Chinese faculty members with learning and/or work experience overseas and 50 teachers from 12 countries outside China. An Overview of XMUT

Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT) is a public university of China, founded in 1981 with the Special Economic Zone of Xiamen, and composed of three campuses and more than 20,000 full-time students today. It is a university of applied science and technology, granted by President Xi Jinping when he was governor of Fujian Province, and the Chair of its Board of Trustees is the mayor of Xiamen. It is a Tier One in Fujian Province, and one of the few participant institutions of MOE-sponsored “Outstanding Engineers’ Training Program”. For years XMUT remains a top one of Fujian universities and colleges in graduate employment rate. It is one of the Top Ten Fastest Growing Universities in China.

Xiamen, the home city of XMUT on the southeast coast of China, is an International Garden City, a UN Habitat Award recipient, and a most popular tourist destination with rich traditional Minnan culture and modern convenience. 48 “Global Fortune 500” companies invest and around 5000 international people live in Xiamen, making it an international community at once diverse and inclusive.

XMUT offers nearly 50 programs, the engineering characteristically distinctive, science fine, and arts and humanity relevant. Many of these programs, in vehicle engineering, environmental engineering, electronic engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering and financial management in particular, are delivered in English, thanks mostly to the 100-odd Chinese teachers who have learning and/or work experience overseas and to the 50 teachers in XMUT coming from 12 countries outside China. Together, they constitute a remarkable teaching faculty for overseas students. Since 1995, we have enrolled a total of 400 students from Xiamen’s International sister cities and partner universities. British Consulate in Guangzhou commented that XMUT was the best host for UK students in study abroad program in China, based on their experience in several-year cooperation with us.
